Opportunity Arts likes to get it’s hands dirty and get out in the community running some events. This workshop was aimed at lower-income families in the Newtown area and we promoted the philosophy that all people have the right to creative expression.

The idea was simple - to promote the viral craze of the #rocks movement . People paint rocks in bright colors or with short messages on them and hide them – preferably in plain sight – so that people find them. The person who finds the rock can take a photo and post it to one of the area’s Facebook page (as this is advertised on the rear of the rock).  Then they can replace the rock with one they’ve painted or re-hide the rock they found. It’s a real-life treasure hunt that promotes art, creativity and being active with your whanau or friends.

All ages and abilities were welcome and the free event was well attended.
